My August Stitch Fix Review

July 30, 2014 by Talia Bunting 6 Comments

My August Stitch Fix came early this month and I was excited to share it with you guys! If you haven’t read any of my other Stitch Fix posts, check them out to get a fuller idea of the pieces they send.

How Stitch Fix Works in 3 Easy Steps

If you’re new to Stitch Fix, here’s a brief overview of how it works.

  1. Pay $20 (a credit toward whatever you keep).
  2. They send you 5 pieces of clothing/accessories
  3. Try them on, return what you don’t want in three days in the pre-paid shipping envelope.

August Stitch Fix Review

Pixley Shelley Spaghetti Tank Dress ($78) Positive: It feels like a good quality dress. It’s lined, it fits me well. I like where it hits on my legs. It feels secure up top, the straps don’t slip down. I really like this dress. I like the pattern at the bottom. I like navy blue. Negatives: I really don’t like the cinched waist. I think it ends up doing the opposite of slenderizing. I’m not crazy about cinched waists. I wish so much that this had been a shift dress, I think I would have kept it otherwise.

41Hawthorn Sam Hi-Lo Short Sleeve Tee ($44) Positive: It’s so comfy. It’s a heathered gray, which is a little different than the other grays I own. The neckline and sleeves hang perfectly. I LOVE the hi-lo look. I love that I can dress this shirt up or wear it with jeans. Negatives: Joe doesn’t like that I own another gray shirt.

You'll have to excuse the look - but it ended up being the best shot for showing the hi-lo of the shirt

Mystree Samberg Smock Detailed Knit Shirt ($48) Positive: It matches a lot of things I have. It fits for the most part. Negatives: The material is thin. It’s a tad bit short. I don’t like the neckline. I’m not crazy about the smock look. It also makes me look pregnant. Imma go with no on this one.

Pixley Messi Lattice Neckline Knit Tank ($68) Positive: It is very interesting. I don’t own anything like this. I like the lattice work. The top part is like a chiffon material and the bodice is a cotton blend. I like the two different materials a lot. Negatives: It’s a lot like the shirt I got last month in my June fix. I don’t really need another black chiffony shirt. It doesn’t come quite as high as the other black shirt, but it’s still higher than I like on my collar bone.

Pixley Monty Scarf Print Kimono Cardigan ($58)Positive:
I love the idea of a kimono. My sister got a super cute kimono (kind of like this one) that she  look fabulous in, I’ve been wanting to copy her. I like the colors and the design. The length is good Negatives: I think it’s just not my style. I wanted it to work, but it just looks like I’m wearing my robe to lunch. Also I don’t like the wing sleeves, I feel like I could fly away in this thing.

Overall a lot of things I liked about these pieces and I really liked what my stylist picked out for my to try. I opted just to keep the hi-lo shirt this go around.

What do you think I should have kept?

*If you sign up using my referral link, I do get a $25 credit, but I really recommend Stitch Fix. I will never endorse something I don’t believe in.

I love Stitch Fix. I only wish they had it in Ireland. =( You have some great picks this month. I wish you would have kept the Pixley Messi Lattice Neckline Knit Tank. It looks great on you. 100% I think it’s fun too, to sometimes mix things up with something different that what you usually wear. Thanks for the post. =)
